Crow, 2.75″ wide by 3.5″ high
I photographed this Crow flying low along the beach near the head of the island, a few miles from the bridge. Drawing it was a real treat, the light caught the feathers in a way that gave me a lot of detail to work with, and the simplicity of a black and white image let me really show off the lines.
As a side note, it’s been interesting to draw a few different birds and begin to notice the way feathers bend in similar ways when birds are in flight, for example the way the feathers on the wingtip of this Crow bend and curl is very similar to the wing tips on an Eagle I drew recently, it might be obvious but I had never noticed before.
