Another common bird and a favorite of mine. Nuthatches have such a unique and wonderful way of moving, it makes them very easy to identify from a distance and they are a great bird to start with if you’re just learning to identify birds. This one was perched so beautifully on this tree on the side of a mountain in Acadia, on a windy day with faint clouds. In the drawing I combined to faint placement of the clouds with the feel of the wind on the mountain side so create the swooping white background lines.
