Based on a photo I took near Stonington Maine this past winter, it’s kind of a popular spot and there were several other folks getting out cameras and tripods when I arrived.
The sunset was nice though it was very cold and windy. As soon as the sun was below the horizon everyone else left, right before the real show began! A deep dark blue set in and then the Western sky began to turn all pink and purple in long puffy lines across the sky, silhouetting the tree covered islands. It was stunning to behold!
It was so cold I had to keep shooting just to keep my hands working, and by the time it was dark I had to sit in the car with the heat on for about half an hour before I could drive home.
